diabetes runs in my family. though I don't have it, I won't be too surprised if I get later on in life. Now, I don't have to be afraid of having a ' pre-existing condition'.

my sister is a 2-time breast cancer survivor. THANK GOD she's a teacher......insurance would have been out of the question.

If you change your diet and eat whole foods, you won't get it. Both my mother's parents and all of her sisters have diabetes. My mother's cut out all the processed foods in her diet 20 years ago, and at 62, she doesn't have diabetes.

Absolutely itgurl_29 re: diet. I don't have diabetes, but I was diagnosed with Lupus. Overtime I've discovered what triggers flareups of this condition. Invariably it comes down to my diet. Too much sugar, too many starches, too much acid, etc., etc., much like the diet of diabetics. So, thank you for pointing out the importance of diet.

Off Topic: Having a ball watching-between calling-the repubs get caught in their web of lies. They just don't know when to quit. They must have gotten some mad money from these insurance companies for them to go to the lenghth they are going. Sad; no concern whatsoever for the american people; just a need to stop this bill and bring down (in their small minds) our wonderful President.
