I saw Anita about a month after Rapture was released...my older cousins were forced to drag me along..LOL...it was at that concert that I declared I wanted to be Anita Baker when I grew up....heck, I still do.

I work in a Dilbert Cartoon, I mean it is the ultimate clusterfuck of dumb ass management and people that I really dont understand how they ever learned to tie their shoes. I cant even have an enjoyable Friday night! I am at the age where I could easily go to a club and dance my ass off to some T.I. or I could just as easily chill at a nice lounge and listen to some Anita, a little bit of Maze....but noooooooooo, I work with gnats that irritate me to the point where I need to find a spot in a cut somewhere! Don't hate on Millie Jackson. My grandfather remarried after my grandmother died. He chose a fat piece of meat, half his age, straight from the farm, country as hell. We (the grandkids) called her "Fatty". Fatty loved herself some Mille Jackson and Joe Tex. Fatty couldn't read, Fatty couldn't write but I did not care.

I cried when my grandfather died. That gutted me because my grandfather taught me love, spirituality, and manhood (things my father knew nothing about). I probably cried just as much when "Fatty" died (much too young).

Fatty taught me how to play spades (no talking across the board!), and how to cook EVERYTHING in lard. When my grandfather died, he told my mother to look after Fatty. She did, and when Fatty died, my sister buried her. She couldn't find anything big enough, so she laid her down in a big pink shroud.

I've never met you, but I feel like I know you, Miranda. Long live Millie Jackson! Long live the "fatty's" that we have known and loved and never ever ever disrespected.
