At least seven people are dead and 20 wounded in a mass shooting Thursday at Fort Hood, Texas, where at least one suspect had shot at SWAT team members before being captured. For updates read here.
Updated: There was suspicion of terrorism? Suspicion? The shooter wounded and killed, men and women who serve in the military, one of his own.

Now CNN is reporting that they spoke to a neighbor of Hasan's in Silver Spring, MD. The neighbor said that Hasan lived with a man that she assumed was his brother. He was nice, but had a “religious ring to his demeanor”. They didn't wear religious garb, but there were writings on their door that appeared to be Muslim.
Maybe I'm being cynical, but it seems like the media is trying to frame this as an Islamic terrorist act.

“We do have a witness who reported that,” Col. John Rossi said Friday morning from Fort Hood.
“Allahu Akbar” means “God is great” in Arabic.
Rossi, during the morning briefing, also praised Sgt. Kimberly Munley, a civilian cop who exchanged gunfire with Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan and plugged him four times – even though she had already been shot.
“She did a remarkable job,” Rossi said.
Hasan was unconscious and in stable condition, breathing with the aid of a ventilator. Munley was also in stable condition, officials said.

Hours after 13 soldiers were shot to death in a massacre at Fort Hood, a Republican candidate for Congress (and former Fort Hood commander) is warning that terrorists are infiltrating the military and brainwashing U.S. soldiers.
Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret), who is running for Congress in Florida's 22nd District, released a statement on Friday morning that heavily insinuated that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan — the soldier responsible for the Fort Hood killings — was a Muslim extremist.
“This enemy preys on downtrodden soldiers and teaches them extremism will lift them up,” West said, in a statement titled “Terrorists Are infiltrating Military”. “Our soldiers are being brainwashed.”
While admitting that more information was needed about Thursday's tragedy, West nevertheless called for a renewed effort on the part of the military to prevent Islamic extremism from penetrating its ranks.
